Denver Listening Center and
Lowry Occupational Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Tomatis-based Listening Therapy

If you have a child struggling with learning in school or experiencing sensory and auditory processing issues, developmental or motor delays, the therapists at Lowry Occupational Therapy can help.

Occupational therapy combined with Listening Therapy is an effective, drug-free approach to improve functioning for people with auditory and sensory processing disorders, including autism, ADD/ADHD, and dyslexia. It is also beneficial to children and adults who want improved concentration, cognitive skills related to reading and writing, and auditory processing speed. People who complete a listening program also report improved focus, energy, self-confidence, mood, behavior, and decreased anxiety and stress.

Listening therapy uses altered sound frequencies to stimulate neural activity and integrate sensory input to the brain. This specialized auditory training uses electronically enhanced music to improve learning and life performance by helping to normalize the way you process and integrate sensory information.

Therapy sessions take place in a child friendly, sensory- enriched environment. Combining the benefits of auditory stimulation and occupational therapy is powerfully effective, enabling positive change to occur more rapidly.  The program is completed in only 3-4 months, allowing children and families to experience positive changes, then move on with their lives.  If in the future, a client needs or desires a few listening sessions to refresh or "boost" results, these sessions can be arranged, free of charge.

Experience suggests that Listening Therapy will not help the symptoms of Tinnitus (although this therapy will help auditory processing deficits related to tinnitus) Alzheimers, dementia, Tourette’s syndrome, seizure disorders, bipolar disorder and nerve hearing loss.
